How to transport dishes

One of the main tasks when moving to a new place is to protect dishes and other fragile items from damage during transportation. To do this, you need to pack it well. Proper packaging will prevent the appearance of cracks and chips, and will help maintain the integrity of products even during long-term transportation. How to pack dishes, what to pay special attention to when transporting crystal, glass, porcelain and other fragile items, can be found in our article.

Which packaging materials to choose

Improper packaging is the main reason why dishes can break during transportation. To prevent this from happening, you should stock up on a sufficient amount of the necessary packaging material. This:

wooden boxes and/or thick cardboard boxes;

paper – plain, packaging, newspaper;

soft packaging – sintepon, foam rubber, fabric;

bubble wrap wrap;

materials for filling voids.

In addition, you will need scissors, tape and a marker. Before the start of packaging work, cardboard boxes are assembled, and their bottom is taped several times for strength.

How to pack the dishes correctly

The first rule is that the cardboard box must not be overloaded. Such packaging for dishes can withstand no more than 10-15 kg of weight. Therefore, it is best to put plates, cups and other kitchen items in small and medium-sized boxes for moving. Before packing the dishes, they need to be sorted by categories and sizes: cups, saucers, cutlery, plates, pans, etc. When the kitchen equipment is sorted, you can proceed to the packaging procedure itself:

plates, bowls, saucers are stacked in piles, shifting each item with a cloth, bubble wrap or wrapping paper, then placed in a container;

cups and mugs are wrapped with bubble wrap and placed in a box, separating objects from each other with cardboard or other dense material;

cutlery is put together and fixed with an elastic band, lace, thread. Then they are wrapped with thick paper or stretch film;

the glasses are wrapped in bubble wrap and carefully placed in a box in one layer. There should be no other objects on top and bottom;

pans and pots are wrapped with paper, glass lids with bubble wrap.

After the dishes are laid out in containers, the empty spaces are filled with soft packaging materials, and the boxes are taped and signed. You can move!
